  1. Visit the Frederik Meijer Gardens holiday Cultures around the World Exhibit 

Visit this exhibit on the authenticity of the symbols of beloved holiday traditions – it's an idyllic spot to center your thoughts on the true meaning of the holidays. Go enjoy the glow of over 300,000 lights, strolling carolers, rooftop reindeer and 46 international trees and displays any time November 26th through January 5th.

 

 

  1. Pick out the Perfect Christmas Tree

There are plenty of spots to pick out your Christms trees in the Grand Rapids area! Here’s a quick list: Hart Tree Farm, Bosch’s Country View Nursery Inc, Church’s Tree Farm, Horrocks Christmas Trees, Postema Christmas Tree Farm, etc.

  1. The Nutcracker by Grand Rapids Ballet

This holiday tradition returns to the grandeur of DeVos Performance Hall with sets by famed children’s book author and illustrator Chris Van Allsburg (The Polar Express, Jumanji), Broadway-quality set design by Tony Award winner Eugene Lee (Wicked, Sweeney Todd, Saturday Night Live), choreography by Val Caniparoli, and the live music of your Grand Rapids Symphony brought to you by James and Mary Nelson.

 

  1. Go on a BYOB Christmas Lights Tour

All of the Holiday feels can be found aboard this BYOB experience, winding you through some of the most notable lighting installations Grand Rapids has to offer.

Join in on the fun any Friday & Saturday after Thanksgiving through the end of the year!

  1. Ride the Santa Train 

Board the Santa train for a 90-minute ride with elves, a storytelling princess and Santa. This jolly train travels from Coopersville to Marne. Enjoy this experience Fridays-Sundays November 30th through December 22nd.

  1. Attend a Santa Parade

Get in the spirit with all things Christmas & see the jolly old man himself at one of these Santa parades! Art Van Santa parade through downtown Grand Rapids November 23rd, 76th annual Rockford Santa parade December 7th, Santa parade at Ada fire department on December 7th, etc.

  1. Visit Broadway Bar

A west-side favorite, Broadway bar boasts some of the best holiday decorations  in town! Simply stop by to take in the holiday spirit, grab a drink or enjoy a holiday movie.
